If I encounter a sky such as... http://www.tinplatedesign.com/Sweden20.JPG that would be ideal. It is dramatic and does add a lot of interest to the picture. However, what I am actually referring to is the sky in a picture such as... http://www.tinplatedesign.com/Copenhagen1.jpg
To me, it kind of flattens out the picture, taking away for the main subject and makes for an overall dull look. Other than trying to use Photoshop after the fact, and for each picture such as this, what can be done? If it's a one time, one place, one shot situation, coming back on a nice sunny day is not always possible.
We also encounter a lot of sky's that look like this in Southern California, either because of June Gloom (marine layer), or overall smog and pollution.
