Web Photo Galleries

Someone elsewhere suggested Irfanview to create web galleries

One of my other programs offered to produce a web gallery

That looked quite tolerable so I decided to recode it into 21st
Century standards using CSS, that's the one I just showed you.

Problem is this needs to be done manually, I can use Irfanview or
several other programs to produce the thumbs and inject them into the
code the long way.

Now this is still a work in progress and needs some severe tidying up
to become standards-compliant.

I can either finish hacking my own code or ask you guys if you've
found any alternative software that can provide a similar result, ie.
using standards-compliant html/CSS and being fast and light code. I
find a lot of galleries don't work without scripts and are often slow
and cumbersome.

Any suggestions?
