I arrived at this by downloading all the DNG converters and Camera Raws
I then trial and errored until it worked.
No need to try because the so call RAW format hasn't been united so
different company and model have different RAW, and Photoshop won't give
free upgrade to support newer RAW format and to force Photoshop user to
either buy LightRoom or upgrading to newer Photoshop.
DNG is the only option which Adobe is trying to create and control the
market by releasing the Universal RAW Format and call it DNG (Digital
So your CS2 should work with Canon 30D (and probably 40D ?), but since
was released after CS2 was released so CS2 won't cover 50D.
Maybe I didn't explain clearly enough my workflow.
Convert to DNG with the converter.
Open the DNG in Photoshop. With CS, I cannot directly open the CR2 file
only the DNG works.
Hey, I'm no expert, but I try to get the stuff I have to work.
I upload from card to computer with either Bridge or Lightroom. Both
automatically convert my Nikon .NEF files to .DNG.
