No matter how much investigating I did when I bought my new 50D ... I
still ran into a (minor) glitch...thanks to Adobe.
The new Canon camera uses a *different* RAW format than my old one
they no longer use CRW , now it's CR2 (sigh)
Adobe's CR2 plug-in does not work with Photoshop cs2 and below...they
want me to upgrade again. Sheesh
Canon is at least good enough to include a RAW program that can at least
be used to do any preliminary editing... then save a TIFF to send to
Photoshop to finish the job.
The real thing that steams me though is that the *free* software such as
IRFanview or GIMP have plugins for CR2 that can be installed in a matter
of seconds...and at no charge!
(end of venting, thank you)
Welcome to the wonderful world of Open Source. I use ufraw, myself - it allows basic editing before you save it out.
Yes
I use that and GIMP myself and I switched over to Linux full time at the beginning of the year.
However my fiancé is a Photoshop die-hard.
When I watch her work...I have to admit that she can work more efficiently when she uses Photoshop.
