I recently brought a Fujifilm Finepix J110w pocket sized camera. If I
point the camera at myself to take a photo of myself I find that the
flash has caused the photo to over expose and I look washed out. The
exposure seems the same 1/60 sec at F3.3
I tried to adjust the camera's exposure conpensation but the exposure
is the same.
I'd welcome any suggestions

First of all, I'd get my eyes checked to make sure the retinas aren't
totally nuked if I was you.
The simple solution here would be to put a piece of paper over the flash, as
arms length is very close indeed. The paper will also soften the light of
the flash, giving a much more pleasant overall effect.
