Looking for Advice......

So a few months ago life threw me yet another curveball and I find
myself unemployed..... I'm no spring chicken and I have always loved
taking pictures so I am thinking I might try my hand as a
photographer......

Any tips, advice, suggestions??

I'll be starting from scratch and need to be profitable in a short
time or the wife will put an end to this dream for very practical
reasons.

Any suggested reading? Contacts I need to make?
