I completely understand that Google will fix the https issue but at the moment, (After all I have been on more than a couple of Beta tester lists in my time) and its an issue that puts Crome on my "Not just yet" list, as to adblocking I can see others creating an adblock plug-in for it, but I am one of those that see Google as only giving their "Do No Evil" mantra lip service. call me a cynic but I can envisage Google "Accidentally" breaking the ad block plug-in every time they update it, after all if a "sponsor" pays them enough, Google is just like every other company and will give it every consideration.

One more time: Adblock does NOT affect Google search and advertising on the Google search page, even if you tell adblock to block google (I assume becasue the 'ads' on Google are just additional hypertext and not delivered by the advertising agencies). Those subtle adverts will still be there when Adblock is active. So Google has no reason to interfere adblock.

And again one more time..............considering your the only one bringing up the ads on Google search page!
I completly understand about Google text ads, what do you think, I came down in the last shower??
but google do more than just text ads and AdBlock plus does in fact remove most Google ads with a few simple lines in the filter list
"/google_ads/*"
"/google-adsense$subdocument"
"/googleAd.js"
"/googleframe."

next argument!!

Side note: The threat of adblock has been a good weapon with some news sources such as the LA Times. Their advertisers occasionally put up super invasive ads that pop up everytime you change articles. Telling the LA Times that AdBlock not only cures that advertiser BUT also punishes the well behaved advertisers gets quick action. They have improved a lot, so I'm not the only one complaining...

I do not turn on adblock when I'm in the newspaper sites. I feel that the value I get is well worth a few ads. However, of late, I've notived a lot of advertising video downloads automatically. This eats into my bandwidth limit with my ISP. (So many GB/month). I'd like an option in AdBlock that allows ads to load, but stops video from downloading (not hide it, but stop the BW abuse).

I understand about the bandwidth limit as we are under the same regiem down here in Australia, sucks big time!!
As to my supposition that Google would effectivly cripple adblocking in crome at every opportunity, I draw your attention to the current "debate" over Apple and iTunes 8, It would seem that a known faulty driver is being installed with the latest download of iTunes 8, this driver has been known to cause BSOD'ing in windows machines since Win2k, yet remarkably it is somehow shipping with the latest release of iTunes.

Who knows, but the it is all still speculation as is adblocking in Crome, time will tell :-)
