Is there a digital point and shoot camera out there that has eliminated shutter lag? I now use a Nikon DSLR but would love to carry a shirt-pocket camera around.
I would like (and am waiting for) one that has:
An optical view finder
Shutter lag comparable with DSLR
6+ mp resolution
around 28-70 equivalent optical zoom

Shutter lag is going to be a problem for any P&S camera. You have to remember the market they are made for. You also have one other issue that a P&S camera will have even something as high end as Panasonic FZ50 or the like and that is the refresh of the LCD screens that a lot of these are using for the eye-view finder and the LCD screen. They update too slow to be of much use for anything that is moving to fast.
I would try an find one that has a real non LCD viewfinder, it may not show exactly what you will get but it will certainly be more responsive. Then you can simply lead the subject and shot a second ahead. This doesn' work when everything is an LCD.
