Does anyone here know:
I am making a Rube Goldberg bracket to put a cable shutter release on my
Sony DSCH1. It is not fitted from the factory to receive the standard
threaded cable release. I found a 40" cable release today, which will be
good to get me back a bit from the hummers I am trying to capture on pixels.
It has a tapered thread on it, designed to fit into cameras equipped to take
this standard cable.
What is that thread? I can tap out a hole in the bracket that it will seat
into, but knowing exactly what that thread is will save me a lot of trial
and error.
AND, the little plug that goes into the tripod and fits into the base of the
camera looks like a 1/4 - 20 thread. Is it?
Thanks. If anyone knows this information, it will shorten my fab time.

I think you can buy those things pre-made. I think they use them in
bird photography.
As for the size, I don't know. But I've never known anyone who had a
tap but didn't have a die. Can't you check your die set and figure it
out. Otherwise, it's a trip to the hardward store.
