I scanned about 100 color photographs from an old photo album. They now
reside on my hard drive. Most of them are OK, especially after massaging
them a bit.

However, when I display some scanned photos on my 19" LCD screen, they are
infested with bright yellow splotches, especially on very dark objects. Is
this something that is caused by the scanner, or the monitor, or is it
some generic problem that occurs with scanning dark objects?

I saved the scanned photos to .tiff files (Big) and jpg files (small).
The rocks in the foreground are bright yellow in both formats.
