I see jessops have refurbished Nikon D50 for £88
but this model is not mentioned on the Nikon web site.
I find this strange.
Does anyone have any thoughts about the d50
thanks

£88? more like £388 i should go back and recheck the price.
it a good camera, once you get used to the settings.
but if i was going for my firt dslr again, then i would go for the d80 or
the d200, cost more but you get what you pay for.

I was just thinking of it as an introduction to dslr before I buy a more
advanced model. At £88 it seams a reasonable into.
I want to replace my Canon T90.

You did note that they are refurbished in your original post. It's a nice
camera, I think it would be a good choice as your first DSLR. Good size,
handles well, good in low light. It is a discontinued model, replaced by
the D40x which in some respects is a step down - the D40 does not have an
internal AF motor so you can only use lenses with built-in motors on the D40
if you don't want to focus manually. The D50 has an internal AF motor.
