Advice Needed Re Selling a Canon EOS Mark II Digital Camera

I am posting this to the ebay International Trade Discussion and
Photography Discussion Boards as well, but would appreciate any advice
you photography pros might have for me and I thank you in advance for
any words of wisdom you can share. A consignor, (a nice guy radiologist
with apparently too much $$ for his own good, lol) has asked me to sell
a very expensive Canon Mark EOS II camera that is just too complicated
for his wife to use. She wanted more of a point-and-shoot camera that
would take quality pics of their kids in various activities. He paid a
fortune for it (over $8,000 with accessories) at one of those
800-number New York camera outfit stores and they will not let him
return it. They took less than 200 photos with this camera. He was told
by a Wolf camera store here that this particular camera cannot easily
be found in Asia and other locations overseas, so it may bring more
money if it is sold globally on ebay.
In general we have not had trouble with international shipments,
however we did get burned once when we sold an expensive item to a
bidder in the UK and then the buyer claimed that he never received
item, and filed a claim with PayPal and they refunded his money...we
were out both the item and the money+shipping. We later found out the
buyer did in fact receive the item and we saw it on his website and
long story short, after we exposed him to a discussion forum for what
he sells, he refunded our money. But that left a bad taste in our
mouth. We've heard a lot about chargebacks and other types of fraud
when selling internationally.
If we would like to sell this item overseas, what can we do to prevent
a fraudulent transaction? Is eBay the right vehicle for selling this
item? Are there any message boards or online photography vehicles that
might be a better venue for this professional quality camera? Any other
advice? Thanks to anyone reading this - we would appreciate any advice
you might have. Barb
