Why not balance the colour when you take the picture? That's what I do.
balance. In the past I would use white reference and use the cameras
custom white balance function to get it right. But this takes time
while I am shooting and I often don't have that kind of time, it is
much easier to shoot in the closest preset white balance mode and
adjust as needed.
And sometimes it is just not practical to use a white reference, like
when you are shooting through the windshield of a car as one example.

If you are shooting through the windshield of a car, curved, distorting,
covered in bugs you may as well shoot JPG with a P&S camera.
