Hello,With a 'real' macro lens. Modern fixed 'macro' lenses in the 90-105mm
I am relatively new to photography and I am currently having fun
learning.
I decided to expand my horizons and invest in a releatively cheap 70 -
300mm telephone macro lens.
My question and apologies for the basic nature of the question - the
macro setting can only be turned on while between 200mm & 300mm.
What do I need to do to enable me to focus close up on a subject - the
lense gets me nice and close however not close enough to see proper
detail.
At the moment if try and move closer to the subject - I can't focus.
How are the great close up shot taken?
range will allow you to get 1:1 to your subject, so every mm of the
object = mm on the film/sensor.
At a guess the lens you've got will enable at best 1:2 [1]so you get
half size, it will also be f5.6 so you won't be able to throw the depth
of field out so much.
For the really stunning stuff you'd need something like the 65mm Canon
Macro [2] with will actully give upto 5:1 so you can actually get
magnication on life size although that lens is a bit more specialist.
[1] That is all my Tamron of v similar sounding specs to your lens will
achieve
[2] Sorry if you are shooting Nikon/Pentax etc I don't know the
alternatives for those.
