i have had the same problem. i use a program called badcopy3
(http://www.download.com/BadCopy-Pro/3000-2248_4-10417404.html?tag=lst-0-1).
it's $40 but it is well worth it. it works on all types of media, including
compact flash. i've formatted a disk in my camera and this program brought
all my pictures back as well as some pictures from the prior time i
formatted the card.
