ISO baptismal photographer

I am looking for an experienced photographer for a baptismal in the
Washington DC Metro area.
I am not sure where to start looking. I know the yellow pages is a start but
the size of the ad is generally not directly related to the shop's
experience. I would hate to be someone's guinea pig for our event.
Also, I realize that originals are generally kept with the photographer so
that they control the prints but from your experience would they be willing
to part with the originals for a fee? Is that customary?
