The picture would not show much: in the device manager several monitors,
in the registry several monitors either for 4 controlsets plus the
current one.
Half a year ago i tried to tweek the monitor setting with an override
EDID, now I cannot set more than 1680x1050. This is a software issue,
Ubuntu on the same device gets it like a charm, another XP with the same
HW as well. I just wanted to restart from scratch with all my monitor
settings.

Thank you.

I finally exported all monitor settings for all the controlsets from the
working laptop to the similar machine which refuses to set more than
1680x1050.
Now both EDID information is identical in the registries... But that did
not help either!
The bug seem to be elsewhere than in that registry records.
Someone with another track to follow?

Update the video card drivers?
