I have many difficulties to connect to my wifi access point according
where
I am with my netbook.
Sometimes I get the message connected to address "169.254.9.70" instead
of
192.168.0.28;
also it may show limited access to the Internet.
What is this address Type and what is happening.
I have got a local network with fixe IPs;

That first IP is what you get (default) when DHCP does not assign an
address
(or it got' lost' on the way), Try a right-click on the network icon :
'repair'

Thanks a lot. At least this clarifies one point. In the end I could not
see
my SSID and connected to a public SSID not secured.
I am confused now:If you connected (to the Public), you should have an IP.
Or do you mean, the your kit refused to connect because it was configured
to
reject 'Un-secure' connections?
The result you got would be what I expected.
The connetion to the Public was made after the failed connection to my own
SSID. *attempted* connection
< NO usable IP# = No connection in my book ;)

<You would get the same results inserting a "loopback plug" into the Wired

How do you insert a "loopback plug" ?
Carefully,
you would not want to break your mind.

Now re-read my post.

I never said you should insert a loopback plug in a WIRELESS connection.
I gave an example. that would produce similar results.. The system recognizes
that there is a Network present, but there is no CONNECTION.
