Only if you choose install does anything actually change.

That "Unknown device" is a clue.
It may be unknown because the hardware is broken
(it may be throwing so many interrupts that you can't get much done)
or it simply needs help finding a driver.
Boot with NO USB devices attached (hopefully you have PS/2 mouse and keyboard
and not a USB only system)
Can you figure what normal "device" is missing?
Try "Update driver" and point it to the correct driver file.
