I am attempting to set up file and printer sharing between these 2
computers. When I try to change the properties of the My Documents folder
on XP to allow file sharing, I get a message that says "Server Service Not
Started". When I try to change the printer properties to share the printer,
the change does not apply. Anyone got any ideas how to fix this problem?
Thanks.

First thing:
Don't share "My Documents", that is for private use.
Better, just put things you want to share in "Shared documents", that is
available by default <G>

You probably have not set up File and Printer sharing on this machine.
Start with that. There is a *Wizard* in My network places to help.
OR
Start, Control Panel,Network Connections
Right click on you Network Connection and Install the "file and Printer
Sharing for Microsoft networks " service

Make sure that the workgroup name is the SAME for both machines.
XP Home defaults to MSHOME, XP Pro defaults to WORKGROUP.
You can call the work group FRED as long as all members are set to FRED.
