The computer boots and runs Windows O.K. but I can't find the
folder, I've run a virus check and found nothing.
I'm a bit baffled as to what's happened let alone how to fix it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try changing the view (icons, details, thumbnails, etc) also show
folders on the left and type "c:\windows" into the address bar,
does it appear now?
Thanks, and to SteveH in the reply elsewhere.
Folder options, show hidden files & folder and it's there,
unfortunately so are all the rest.
Selecting the Windows folder properties shows hidden as checked but
it's greyed out so I can't uncheck to just view that folder only.
Open a command window and type
attrib -h c:\windows
(it might also have the system attrib set too so try
attrib -s -h c:\windows
if the above doesn't work)
attrib c:\windows will let you know what attribs are set.
Just because windows says you can't change it doesn't mean you can't ...
Typing C:\windows does indeed open it.
Strange that the folder used to be visible, not one of life's great
problems but it annoys me no end when these things happen, I must
be getting old.
Is there a fix to get just the Windows folder visible and keep all
the other system stuff hidden? Maybe a registry fix.
Again many thanks.
Just go to the Properties of the folder and deselect Hidden. Make
sure you only apply to that folder only.

What are you implying, tranny?
This child is so tiresome: If ss has personal hangups with preferring the
clothes of the other gender then that's his own problem and I do wish he'd
quit his projections.
What "tranny" as you disrespectfully call me in your male thuggish
projection of your own psyche is implying is that you have answered a
problem once again by suggesting action that the enquirer has already
stated is not possible; as in your Peanut Gallery profile where you reply
to the original poster who wanted a recommendation on a backup program
that, quote: "does not require a restart like ghost." thus:
"The two popular imaging programs are Norton Ghost ... "
That was in or before 2004; nevertheless it is evident that you have
failed to stop making yourself appear to be a complete halfwit.
What are you prattling on about now you deranged moose
ss.
