You have it figured wrong, here. I had a Winbook XL3 laptop with
Windows XP Pro, SP2 on it. The hinge broke and it could not be
repaired, so I had no choice other than to buy a new laptop. I bought
a Compaq at Best Buy and it came with Windows Vista installed. I
didn't select it for the OS, but found that I would have to get along
with Vista or purge it and install my old XP. I decided to give Vista
a fair chance, and after a couple of weeks I gained enough familiarity
with it to get along nicely with it. That's not to say I have no
complaints, but my complaints are minor, and yes, I had complaints
when I changed from Windows 2000 to XP. It just took a while for me to
adapt.

I have VISTA on my laptop and I have learned to like it very much. At
first I was skeptical, but after a few weeks of learning and adapting
I wouldn't want to give it up. There are still some aspects that I
don't like as well as those in Win XP Pro, but these are mostly a
matter of personal taste. The color schemes and lack of contrast in
the text is my biggest complaint.

There are people such as yourself who rush to PC World to buy the latest
top-end laptop for a small fortune plus another bank-account balance for a
five-year warranty, and who love Vista from day one: I know of at least one
other -These people usually have a lot of money to spare and are overwhelmed
at the concept of something all-brand-new which they bought in a rush when
their old laptop/desktop's hardware which originally ran ME or was touted as
leading technology at the launch of XP failed miserably after 7 years of
good service: 'Fair play to them; but those people wishing to upgrade
existing hardware who don't have large bank balances are in a rut
nevertheless thanks to the commercial interests of M$.
