Win XP SP2

In Windows Explorer the name I gave the DVD (back ups) shows up
but when I click on it to open it reverts back to the C: drive.
I CAN see the files in DOS. The DVD drive works fine on another
XP SP2 machine. Obviously it's a Windows problem but I have no
idea how to proceed from here.

If the drive works fine in DOS or from a bootable dvd/cd, it may
be the "lower filter" problem. You may have (un)installed cd/dvd
related software before that happened. Just google for "cd filter
driver issue" and find the common solution.

Never heard of that. There is a CD on the same cable, if that were
the problem wouldn't the CD ROM have the same problem?

He's from another reality that exists within his own head; take it
with a pinch of salt.

Can you prove that?

Can you prove otherwise?

Don't have to. You made the statement. It's empty until you prove it.
And a search shows you are useless here so I'll filter you, ok?

At least until you nym shift like all trolls do. You find it
frustrating when not only are you ignored in real life you are ignored
here.

What? - ! Did you forget to take your meds today? I was talking about
Walter Mautner existing in an alternate reality state. : There was no reason
for your social dysfunction to kick in.
