I set up low end machines for folks with low incomes...
It's a compromise I guess..but AVG bogs down the machine the least.
Thus far...no machine I've setup has gotten virus infected...
and though I'm sure there must be many other virus checkers out there...
AVG suits the purpose fine.
On some of the machines I am using Avast and that seems to do a good
email...
Of course I am about to try an experiment and bring a Linux machine in.
I just got an old P-II-300 server with a 4gig ultra-wide and installed
Damsn
Small Linux.
For someone who wants to just do a little surfing and check their
it should work out pretty well..."FreeSpire" might work well for you too.
I'll see what happens...who knows?
I gave Linspire a try once and did not care for it...
don't know if Free Spire is better...
but I have a whole box full of Linux distros here and should have enough for
a while
.
