Re: Backup crashes my computer

OK with automatic restart unchecked, here is what the blue screen displays.

BAD_POOL_HEADER

STOP: 0X00000019 (0X00000020, 0XE9F442D8, 0XE9F442F8, 0X0C040408)

It states if this is the first time you see this error, restart your
computer, if it continues, check any newly installed hardware to insure that
it is installed correctly.

Does any of this make any sense. It makes none to me.

I have no idea what the POOL Header is or how to research why it is bad or
what it should be.

The only NEW hardware installed on this computer is

1. A 4 port USB 2.0 PCI card, and the software installation of drivers said
it installed successfully.

It was installed because the internal USB ports died on this computer
disallowing me access to my ipod and various thumb or external hard drives.

They now work on the 4 port card.

2. A maxtor One Touch USB External 250 GB hard drive. If the drivers for
this are the offender, I can easily dump this ***. I would rather
backup to the server.

Where do you turn off "Automatically Restart" ?

System Properties (Windows + Pause/Break keys), Advanced tab, "Startup and
Recovery" Settings button. It's a checkbox in the System failure part.

The details in the recovered from serious error post that is sent to
Microsoft first sequence of codes is BCCODE:19

If I look at the events error listing in Administrators window, the
error listed in red is 102 event 1003.

I did a google serach of Error 102 and found a listing FIX System 102
errors for free. What a joke, it directed me to the Regcure website.
I downloaded the software and paid them $29.95 to cure my registry
and fix 102 errors. Bah Humbug ! It said it fixed a lot of registry
errors but it didn't fix whatever is causing my computer to crash
when attempting a backup. It still does after running Regcure's so
called fix.

2005 software on it. The other computers have either Windows XP
Professional or Windows XP Home on them.
I cannot do any kind of na backup to any form of hardware without
having the same results on this HP computer.

I have tried to external hardrives, to the local hard drive, to a
DVD, to a CD, and by using Roxio Creator 9 backup, or even just
trying to backup My Documents to the desktop using system tools
backup included with the software on the HP computer. Same results
everytime. CRASH ! CRASH! CRASH!
chkdsk finds no problems with the local hard drive a 500 GB SATA
drive.
There is 2 GB of DDR@ memory in the computer

I have spent over 10 hours online with HP support and 0 positive
reults.
The last suggestion was to set "Use Pagefile" to No

That made no difference.

Does anyone know what may be going on that this computer does not
want to do a backup ?
