It sounds like you don't have the patience to follow through with fixing this problem so either let him live with it or find someone else to help him. It does not seem to be a dire security threat, just an annoyance at this time. If there are one or more .dll files missing he may have to uninstall or reinstall something, but if nothing seems to be broken besides this error why even bother? You could check in the Event Viewer log to see if application errors or even system errors are being shown at the time of logging on. If you do see something that looks like a serious error you could post back.

I'm on the road now, and left him with, practically, the same response. He didn't have the system disks that came with it (2004 toshiba laptop). I thought there was something on board like the "system check" (OS?), which compared the working files to the installation ones and replaced anything questionable.. thanks

Is the file name "framedyn.dll" ?

I see this A LOT with adobe products. For some reason Acrobat,
Premier, etc... have a hard time finding that file. Even though
their own error message shows the correct path, as in the error
message above.

My solution, and it works, is to place a copy of framedyn.dll all
over the disk. That is, put a copy in C:\windows, put a copy in
C:\windows\system32, etc... The application will search the
%path% variable before it generates the error, so if you spread
that file all over the disk, it will find it and move on without
errors.
