I am organizing an office with about twenty desktop computers, all
Dell, and the software for these have been more or less over time
heaped in to one pile. They all have Automatic Updates turned on and
are up to speed in that regard with SP2 etc. How can I match the OS
disks to there respective machines? There are restore disks as well
as MS XP disks in this pile. Can Belarc Advisor be of any use?
Thanks,

If all machines have the same version of XP installed (i.e., OEM XP Pro),
any CD will work with any of the Keys on the silver sticker affixed to the
PCs.
If they still have the "Factory Installed" version of XP on the PCs, the key
you'll get with Belarc is Dell's VLK and won't work with the XP CDs. If you
actually have "Recovery" CDs, you won't need to enter a Key at all.
