XP Pro differs only in that you can access the Administrator account
in Normal mode Welcome screen by hitting Ctrl+Alt+Delete twice.

No. There is no "Welcome screen" (unless it goes by so fast I can't
see it) if you setup XP (home) as I described above. It just boots
straight to the desktop with all admin privledges allowed for the
(one) user.

But just for the record ... I did "log off". And was presented with ONE
account (bill) to log back onto. No "Administrator" account was present.
I'll assume that's because the account named "bill" already HAS admistrative
rights for the machine.

You always need access to a second 'Administrator' capable account;
accounts do get corrupted.

No. But I suppose that's what the "Adminstrator Account" that shows
up if I boot to *safe* mode is all about.

You can have multiple accounts and still automatically boot into one
of them. TweakUI can easily set it up.

Of course you can. But I've never seen the "administrator" account
show up on the screen outside of safe mode.

The fact that you've never seen it doesn't surprise me.



Perhaps I missed the OPs real question as per the subject line, "One
machine, one admin, one user - how?"

I'm currently sitting at "One (XP home) machine", on which I'm the,
"one (visable) admin", and the one "user". This machine (XP-Home)
boots straight to windows, and upon doing so, I can make any changes
to it I darn well please WITHOUT having to boot into safe mode and
accessing the "Admistrator" login. So my question still stands.
Can XP (pro) NOT do the same?
