It depends on When, and with What they were formatted.
Original XP (pre-SP1 version) didn't support 48-bit LBA. Nor did
Win 98.

How do I correct the formatting?
by reformatting.........
Repartition first.
make F become C, then the new F shows a size of 149 GB and the new C
127 GB.
Did you change the cables too?
Are both positions internal IDE connections?
single IDE cable. Position using cable select on drives.
They were properly position after changing so that F was seen by the
computer as C
.
