Any suggestions other than replacing the drive?
Thanks.

drives are dirt cheap.............get a DVD/RAM instead.
Yeah, that's what I figured. Any recommendations?
there are so many out there to choose from but I have recently fitted
a Sony and an NEC 7170 and I have no complaints with either. Both
about £20.
In fact its hard to tell who actually manufactures these things they
are pretty much faceless.
Samsung SH-S182D IDE DVD-RAM drive is what I recommend; just over £20 and
usually comes with a firmware live update program. Its SATA counterpart,
SH-S183A, is sold on ebuyer as a bare drive for a few pennies more, and the
SB04 firmware works with it, and the Live Update program likewise.
