My Control Panel Add/remove device got screwed up and now cannot
uninstall nearly all programs that were there originally -- programs
show, but the "Remove" part isn't there. Is there a fix
(\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\)
shows most recent programs but NOT most of the older programs I had
installed (photoshop elements, Acronis etc.)?
Try using system restore first to restore your computer to before you
noticed the
problem. If that doesn't work you could try to do a repair install of
Windows XP. If
these don't work you may want to try to reinstall the programs that you had
installed
and see if they show up in the add-remove. If Acronis was installed and you
had a good
backup without this problem then you could restore your system using your
acronis backup.
Good luck.
