Question on Memory Sticks Sizes

Hi!

My question pertains to memory stick sizes.
I want to add memory to my Computer and
during the course of shopping for new memo-
ory I began to get differences of opinion as
to why one should not mix sizes. To this I
mean say a 1GB stick with a 512 MB stick.
Why and what can happen if one mixes 2
different sizes?

Can someone help me with this and or dir-
ect me to a website to read up on this?

As always, thank you in advance.

Peace!

Ben mitts :)
