My system :

two hd's
two dvd-writers

Suddenly both my DVD-writers refuse to recognize DVD-RW-disks.
I was trying to put some pictures on DVD, using PROShow-Gold:
When I put an [empty !] DVD-RW in mij writer, PROShow showed me the
message :

PRO-SHOW GOLD

Burn Process Failed
---------------------------
In order to complete the operation, you will need to insert a blank or
eraseable disc.

Via NERO [Erase Rewritable Disk] I tried to erase the DVD-RW , but this
message showed up :

---------------------------
Nero Burning ROM
---------------------------
PHILIPS DVDRW228 :
This disc is not rewritable and therefore cannot be erased.
Please insert a rewritable disc.

OK Cancel

Tried to use my second writer. but same story :

---------------------------
Nero Burning ROM
---------------------------
LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1673S:
This disc is not rewritable and therefore cannot be erased.
Please insert a rewritable disc.

OK Cancel

I tested several disks of different manufacturers, but everytime the
same story.
Note : both writers write normal DVD, CD-RW and CD without any problems.

Anyone out there who is willing to advise me how to proceed ?
I have no idea anymore how to tackle this problem.

Thanks very much in advance for your tips and assistance

If you have Nero installed, call the vendor that provided the copy, and
explain to them what is happening. They may well give you a 'key' to add
in that will restore the properties removed. Sometimes when adding a
second Optical drive to an existing installation, the 'proprietary'
version turns some things off...
