Fresh Install of Windows XP - Windows Update Stales/Crashes ??

I've been battling with this since sunday. I've been trying to get
windows updates to work on my XP Pro SP2 install. But every time I try
to grab the updates after the first 3 (Windows Installer, WGA, and a
KBxxxxx) Windows Update crashes but the auto updater works fine.

That's great and all that the auto one work but I want the optional
updates like MP10 and what not.

I think it has something to do with WGA authentication, but I'm not
certain.

Can anyone help?

I'm about to install my copy of XP Home on my X2 dual core.... :(
