Check to see how hot it is getting. If it happens only when you do certain
things, try to isolate it to a preticular program if you can. If not, it may
be a driver/hardware problem. I've heard of people who have had bad RAM have
that happen.... scan for viruses too. I would get a RAM checker and make
sure everything is good there (check your video ram too). You may even want
to let your computer run for a day in safe mode and see if it still does it.
If so, that confirms it's not a driver issue (since alot of drivers are not
loaded in safe mode). It may also be a power supply issue. Make sure you
don't..like.. have an abnormally high amount of USB devices that suck power
from your main power supply (scanners..ect) attached.
My Acer Aspire 1600 laptop, running winXP Home, suddenly shuts down, at
least once per day, at different times, leaving a Black and blank screen.
When I re-boot, it continues normally for the rest of the day. The machine
is wireless networked to a desktop, also running XP home.
Can anyone explain, suggest, or help?
Thanks.
