Hi
You shouldn't have alot of trouble handling sound processing as long
you don't have alot of processing going on the background. I encourage
people to use whatever system they are most comfortable with, but if
you are having trouble, you might want to consider other options. One
oddity of design that windows has is the reinitialization of hardware
faults via restart.
Give a live CD of Linux a try, if you want to avoid this kind of hassle.
Good live CD's are available, such as Damn Small Linux, Morphix, and
Knoppix amoung others, and A live cd, running directly off of the
cdrom with no installation, means windows won't even know you took
another girl to the prom.
These kind of no hassle distributions are really good at detecting
hardware on first boot, and if you decide not to pursue Linux any
further it will give you information about whether or not you have
actual hardware problems.
