Why format tho? Do you really want to backup /restore all of your
personal files and documents? You could boot from a bart disc, rename
program files, documents and settings and the windows installation
folder to .old, and do a clean install this way.

life is now one big BSOD. I've had expert help (just so you
understand I'm not asking for that kind of help), but the final
analysis is: start over.

I'd suggest a 2nd opinion, if all you did was install a webcam.

The webcam was the final straw, not the only problem. I have a post in
microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general--now several weeks old--stating
my intent to reformat, but the issues leading up to this are older
still.

So thats a yes to my question then? You intend to hose everything, and
reload your documents, favorites, email, address book, and other
personal files? In case you missed it or didn't read it, here it is
again:

Seriously, you want to reformat and hose everything? What do you think
your going to gain? :)

I'm just inclined to let most annoyances ride until they actually get in
my way.

So when a guage on your car tells you it's getting too hot, you uhh,
ignore it until you hear it knocking? I thought you were smarter. My
bad.

I haven't read auk in several years.

Why not? It's amusing.
