At random times varying from just after booting the thing up to several hours later, my computer hangs up. I can do nothing except a liveware interupt (switch off & on) to reboot it and keep my fingers crossed!!Most likely to be hardware - could be the power supply on its way out, could be the cpu getting too hot (although CPU getting too hot usually shuts machine down) - can your BIOS tell you what the temp of the CPU is.....should be around 55°C to 65°C
I have Windows SP upgraded from Windows 98.
I've run the Microsoft RAM check and all is OK.
There is no record in the System's Event Viewer which might help so can anybody help please?
In fact to be honest it could be anything - Mobo, HDD, video card - and yes ram - I know you've tested but Windows can hang on hardware that passes hardware diags
SATA HDD?? reseat the cables.......
For what its worth, try a fresh install of XP - could be left over stuff from ’98. See if you can do this on a new HDD......
