Okay, let me put this one to rest by answering my own question. I
loaded the Nvidia Nforce4 serial ata drivers, which now see my hard
drives (which are sata, sorry I forgot to mention that, but didn't
know it was relevant at the time) as hot pluggable. Clicking on the
C: drive and telling it to uninstall will do nothing. This is
apparently common with these newer sata 2 drives under the nvidia chip
set. Ken
