Safely remove Hardware points at my harddrive??

I have just installed Windows xp Pro two days ago, and I see
in my task bar the emblem for "safely remove hardware" is aimed at my
two internal hard drives. For one thing , there is for sure no way
I'm going to be able to "safely" remove my drive C:. I have never
seen this situation in Win 2000.
Just before I did notice this, I had installed Rivatuner in an
attempt t learn more about my video card, and wondered if that
precipitated the "safely remove" icon in the task bar. I removed Riva
tuner and all references in the registry, but that has not gotten rid
of the "safely remove " icon the task bar.
Can anyone tell me what might be going on with this icon
aiming at my hard drives (like a loaded gun). Ken
.
