My iTunes will simply not open!!

This is driving me absolutly nuts!! I just installed the newest version
of iTunes and Quicktime for the first time and that didn't work; it
said there was an error and it was necessary to shut down the program
(this was just after i clicked on the icon; it didn't even open yet).
Then i decided to install Quicktime and iTunes seperatly, to try and
isolate the problem. Then, right after i installed Quicktime (it was
asking me if i wanted to configure some sort of file), this message
came up:
Error Number: 0x80040707
Description: DLL function call crashed:
QTInstallCode.QuickTimePostInstallProc
Setup will now terminate
WHAT IS THIS!!! i have isolated every other variable: anti spyware,
firewall, other running applications, installed both new and old
versions of iTunes and Quicktime, files that were seperate and files
that had both tunes and quicktime in the same .exe file. It is really
bothering me, especially becasue iTunes is installed without a problem
(although it doesn't promp me to restart the computer after
installation), but when i press the icon to open it, it has an error
screen come up, saying that there was a problem and they need to
shutdown the program (its the one that asks if you want to send an
error log report to microsoft.com) Please, any info will help.
