Thanks Panhandler.
Your answer was not appropriate as a by default, a laptop is the primary
montior. However, somehow, you put me on the right track and I solved the
problem.
For those people who are interested: go into the BIOS and set the display
at boot time on "simultaneous". It's that simple.
