Corrupted "cmd.com" file??

When I go to START - RUN -CMD - ENTER I get about five lines of crazy
symbols resembling wingdings etc.
A message then pops up that there is an illegal NTVDM CPU problem plus the
following:
CS:0457 IP:ffe2 OP fe ff id 72
Holy shit, what is this all about?
