Open Messenger, click on "Tools", "Options" then then the "Preferences" tab,
and uncheck the top two boxes, or;
If you want to rid of Windows Messenger in one shot, copy and paste this
script (sans the quotes),
in Start/Run, and click OK.
"RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove"
You can reinstall it again if you want, by downloading from MS.
