Installing SP2 has the potential of having the same effect as installing a
software firewall. That will break a lot of software as well.
Which firewall have you installed that has not required tweaking to get
everthing working right
When you install a software firewall and it breaks an application do you try
to troubleshoot it (by opening ports that the application needs) or do you
say , stuff it I don't need a firewall anyway.
The same can be said for SP2 - sure: there are some aplications that it will
break (Usually because of the firewall being turned on by default) but with
a little thought and troubleshooting, the majority of these can be fixed.
I'm sure that for every user where SP2 breaks applications there are plenty
more users who have had NO problems with SP2. The problem is people are more
likely to complain when it all goes wrong but you won't hear about it when
it goes right.
When was the last time you rang your phone company to say "great work guys,
everything going great here, no problems to report"
BTW. I reccommend installing SP2, troubleshoot any issues you may have - use
google, chances are that someone has come accross, and solved tany issues
that you may have.
Just my 2 cent worth
