XP Pro Start Menu Problems

Has anyone had problems with the Windows XP Start menu. I have not narrowed
down the trigger yet but I am trying. With the Start menu in XP "Start
Menu" style, sometimes the recent apps list will turn black, the Help and
Support link will not launch (only asks to create a shortcut on the
desktop), the Control Panel folder/link does not work nor does the Programs
folder/link and the only way out is to reboot the PC. Most of the time when
it comes back up after the reboot, the quicklaunch bar is not shown.

Anyone Seen this?
