Hi,
I sent an email to the Asus support but no reply yet, so maybe someone here
knows what the trick is..
I just assembled a PC for a friend with Asus K8V SE Deluxe (Bios 1008.002),
Sempron 3000+, 512 Mb Kingston and a Maxtor 80 Gb 8 Mb SATA drive.
While installing XP, it needs me to specify the SATA driver pressing F6.
That's working good, the disk is recognized, and i can format it. But just
after this, XP asks again for the driver telling it can't find the
ulsata.sys file... the floppy disk is good, i tried another one, the floppy
drive is good (i also tried another one). I tried to change the bios
settings using the RAID fonctionnality to make an array with only one disk.
So i use the corresponding driver while pressing F6. It works the same
(format possible, but its go on asking the driver while it's present in the
drive).
I tried with Bios 1008.002 and 1007, no difference...
I tried with the WinXP CD from a friend (with no service pack) and just
after specifying the correct driver with the F6 button, it doesn't see any
drive, so i can't format and install XP..
Is there a working driver for the SATA controler for this mainboard ? Or
does it mean, we absolutely need to use a XP SP2 CD to make the installation
?
PS : the system was freezing randomly before i upgrade to bios 1008.002, now
it's stable
PS2: Maxtor drive successfuly passed the test from Maxtor utility
PS3: RAM was also tested successfully with Memtest86
Thanks
Seb
