I have a used (but not real old) HP and I want to cimpletely reformat the drives, erase all in other words, and install a brand new copy of XP which I just bought. I don't have the original CDs that came with the computer.

Can anyone give me the 1-2-3's of this? Isiit pretty striaght-forward?

Make sure your cdrom is the first boot device then put your windows xp cd in the drive and reboot the computer. While it is rebooting it should say "press any key to boot from cd" then follow the direction.
