XP Install - please help

I have a used (but not real old) HP and I want to cimpletely reformat
the drives, erase all in other words, and install a brand new copy of XP
which I just bought. I don't have the original CDs that came with the
computer.

Can anyone give me the 1-2-3's of this? Isiit pretty striaght-forward?

I've done this kind of thing many times on a MAC but never on Windows.

Thanks for your help.

Either a post or an email would be great.
