We can assume we "know" someone after reading a newsgroup for a while.  That
is another big mistake.  A person writes what he/she wants you to think,
whether there's an ounce of truth in it or not.

If you are careful, RL visits of Internet friends can be wonderful.  I've met in
person several people who used to post here.  I've never been wrong--but then I
have known these people for several years.

We had a swimming party at my house several years ago--before we had to sell it.

I talked someone into moving here!  That person is one of my bestest buddies.
And she is much better off today than before she moved.

Life is never black and white.

I love you René!

I have to reply also, I too have had AMF friends visit as guests in
our home. In fact, that is one reason that I have been reported to
the board of registration in nursing as an associate of drug dealers
by an AMF member! However the four AMF members who have stayed with
me were delightful and my entire family enjoyed their visits. I still
talk weekly to the husband of the late Maureen Brennan (Rickmo3 or
half empty/half full) And am still in frequent contact with my other
visitors. I agree that you have to pick your guests very carefully
and these visitors came after many phone calls and months even years
of internet correspondence, but as true as it is that you don't really
know who you are writing back and forth with, it's also true that
after so many months of sharing out thoughts. sometimes it's really ok
to open our hearts and homes to new friends. BTW one of the most
enjoyable weeks of our familys life was the visit from Moe and her
husband Rick, as sick as she was, there was no one that I have ever
met with a better sense of humor and who enjoyed life more. She was
an inspiration as well as a bundle of laughs. --fran
